Raise your hand if you thought a sequel to BioShock was necessary. Me neither. This seemed like a bad idea from the start, one that could end up only as a blight on the original. Somehow, though, BioShock 2 didn't just measure up to its predecessor but in some ways surpassed it. The gameplay was familiar enough to fans; it was the story — a measured, potent tale about fatherhood and legacy — that enabled the sequel to expand, not diminish, the world of Rapture.
