People think that, but it's actually a place where you can go and have a good drink and some fun with friends.

There's been a pretty interesting development in the battle over Robert Kennedy's papers. The New York Times reports that members of Kennedy's family are unhappy with the John F. Kennedy Library in Boston, and may move the papers to George Washington University.

If this video (loosely translated: "with Romana on the scooter") proves anything, it's that Dutch people are very attractive and have got some killer dance moves hidden under the waisbands of their nylon Adidas track pants. The premise of this vid -- which is so big in the Netherlands that it's got its own fan site (are those meatballs?) and a Facebook page that, while completely blank, has 96 members (not too shabby) -- insofar as we can tell, is that this couple are very proud of their shiny, new scooter.

What percentage of Boston is French? Three percent? No matter, on Bastille Day, everyone's a Frenchman. As such, there are plenty of soirées going down around town to let us ‘Mericans do what we do best: hijack other country's holidays and use them as excuses to stuff our faces and get roaring drunk.

In a town with a history loaded with heroes, legends and giants, paying homage to each deserving demigod is a tall task. In that same town with a horrendous history besmirched with racial conflicts and prejudice practices, it is never to late for redemption. Such is Boston; a city that can hold its head high on its heroes and hide its face from the shame of yesteryear at the same time.

There may be no bigger gluttons for punishment than touring musicians -- and as proof, monthly storytelling series/cringefest "This Has Been A Disaster- Thanks For Having Us" returns for Round 3 tomorrow night at Toad. Well, I want to maintain my face. I would like to join it, sometimes, occasionally.

Author William Gibson has been called the father of cyberpunk and coined the term "cyberspace" back when Internet was little more than a twinkle in DARPA's eye. That's enough to mean that he's probably developed a fan base devout enough to build shrines in his honor, or at least commemorative iPad apps.

But if you ask Gibson himself -- like one audience member did during a Brookline Booksmith reading at the Coolidge Corner Theatre last year -- it still doesn't make him a celebrity.
