BOOKS FOR THE 99%: DESIGN

DESIGN*SPONGE AT HOME | GRACE BONNEY | ARTISAN | $35|Do-it-yourself design is perfect for the downturn. And Grace Bonney's gorgeous guide to making the home into a self-made wonderland is especially perfect. The book is divided into three sections: the second and third show how to construct home furnishings, and how other people salvaged things from dumpsters to create beautiful accents. The first section provides inspiration by showcasing the gorgeous homes of people from different income brackets. If times get especially rough, the beginning can be repurposed as décor by simply tearing pages out and affixing them to the walls with spittle.
