The at-large candidates for Boston City Council are heading into the final stretch to the preliminary election -- time to spend some of what little they've got. In past years, challengers have sometimes erred in spending too heavily on the prelim their first time out (Pat White and John Connolly, to name names), only to find that prelim positioning didn't mean all that much in the end. This time, challengers aren't exactly overflowing with cash anyway. So, should those who have some -- namely Arroyo, Kenneally and Pressley -- spend it now, in hopes that a higher prelim finish will trigger more contributions afterward, or hold onto what little they have?
Anyway, what I'm listing here are each candidate's money raised in August, money spent in August, and cash on hand to start September. I'll rank them by cash on hand. These numbers are taken from their campaign-finance reports, and I apologize if my math is off anywhere.
