In this week’s Phoenix we ran an OUT preview on THUNDERBLOODS debut show this past Saturday at Radio in Somerville . Shit got so hot, apparently, that lead 'Blood Evan Kenney decided to give us a brand new track to premiere, "Ghouls Gone Wild," which we can’t believe Glenn Danzig or Michale Graves didn’t already write (edit: we’re not looking it up to verify this).
Anyway, we've already written too much on this Bodega Girls/Read Yellow/Kingsley Flood Voltron band , which has just one show to their name -- but another on the way, August 9 at PA's Lounge -- so here’s the chat Kenney and I just had on Facebook, and you can DL their new track after the Q&A jump. This is truly the death of journalism.
Evan Kenney : Hey man, wondering if you would be interested in debuting a brand new Thunderbloods song called "Ghouls Gone Wild" for The Phoenix ? I can send it to you if you like?
Michael Marotta : Fuck yeah! How was Saturday's launch?
EK : It was great, man. Felt really great. The night got pretty rowdy, ended up spending the last three hours of my night sans-shirt. Not sure how they let me into T.T.'s with my shirt off.
MM : Because it was Heroes and you are a hero. "Hi, this is my party."
EK : I think they just thought I was part of the Mass Ave methadone crew, and didn't want a problem.
MM : Hey if that guy over there can dance shitless onstage... haha I mean shirtless. Shitless, too.
EK : Shitless. I was shitless. HA! "Dude, I got totally SHITLESS last night!"
MM : Left my shit all over the place.
EK : Hahaha, left everything a mess. All my receipts. My CVS cards.
MM : Your PETCO card, too.
EK : My AAA card. My Boloco card, with one stamp away from a free burrito. Shirts are for squares.
MM : Tweet at John Pepper, he'll hook it up.
EK : I want to make a shirt that says "Fuck This Shirt!" Or one that says "My other shirt is a Ferrari."
MM : On the back.
EK : Yup. And it will be a Cross Colors shirt, with a Tweety Bird body… ahhaha, or Taz dunking.
MM : Hahah Yosemite Sam pissing on Joe Paterno.
EK : HAHAHA, I heard they are putting that statue in Davis Square, next to the Anna's Taqueria. So relevant.
MM : Ok, I’ll post that track.
EK : Oh and we play P.A.'s August 9. That’s our next show I guess. With the Killers and Otis Redding.
MM : And Gaslight Anthem
EK : Main stage. Taking Back Sunday, with special guests, The Miami Sound Machine.
MM : And Secret Machines. And Sister Machine Gun.
EK : And Suicide Machines and Machine Head. Playing the mist tent. I want to play a Mist Tent… at next years Lollapalooza ...at Great Woods. Oh, and Machines of Loving Grace. One more thing, the name of our record is going to be called Tyler Perry Presents.
