"Dance/Draw"
The ICA animates the line with a stereoscopic look at dance, performance, and the graphic arts that have inspired them, coexisted with them, or been created in their wake. This ambitious effort, spearheaded by ICA curator Helen Molesworth, combines a major exhibition (see Greg Cook’s art preview, page 38) with a series of special performances shining light on nearly 40 artists. Although “Dance/Draw” opens in October and runs through January, the majority of the live events are scheduled for November. Highlights include choreographer William Forsythe and artist Paul Chan in a conversation with Molesworth (November 1), Jérôme Bel’s danced “portrait” of French postmodern dancer Cédric Andrieux (November 4-6), the return of downtown New York voguer Trajal Harrell with artist Sarah Sze (November 18-20), and, most exciting of all, Trisha Brown Dance Company (November 11-13), back in Boston for the first time in more than a decade, presenting a repertory that spans 30-plus years.
