MP3 of the Week: Grey Valley Ghost "The Way We Kill"
Now that we’re lodged into the whole noisy, fuzzed-out, nervous frontman college-rock revival, in which reverb-heavy bands are surfing the detached-cool waves of Pavement and Dinosaur Jr., how long before we re-embrace the gritty sonic assault of full-blown grunge? GREY VALLEY GHOST might be one step ahead in their worn-out Doc Martens — the first single from the Georgia-born/Boston-based alternative rock trio screams with a hellacious fury last heard sometime around 1994. “The Way We Kill” is a ferociously dirty alt-rock anthem, and vocalist/guitarist Madison Taylor seems to have a bit of that long-lost ’90s frontman arrogance just waiting to be unleashed. Already armed with one of the loudest tracks of 2011, Grey Valley Ghost celebrate the release of their homonymous debut disc Wednesday, September 7 at T.T. the Bear’s Place in Cambridge, so download the “They Way We Kill” MP3 now and crank up the volume.
