We're sure Jesse Dee won this honor because of his tremendous songwriting and nostalgic fare. But the Arlington soul prodigy also looks the part of a friendly neighborhood heartthrob who's done good with nothing but his smile, charm, and a hollow-body Gibson. In the past year, Jesse graduated from smaller venues to headline the Paradise, and he continues to tour internationally on the strength of his full-length debut, Bittersweet Batch (7not). With perennial white Boston throwback fave Eli "Paperboy" Reed slated to drop his forever-awaited first major-label album, no doubt heads will turn here for the next R&B revivalist. And when they do, Dee, whose Batch was produced by Reed collaborator Jack Younger, might just get the larger pop recognition he deserves.
